Ever wish you could step inside an Agatha Christie mystery? Now is your chance to become part of one.

Red Mask Players will hold auditions for Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express, adapted for the stage by Ken Ludwig and directed by Royce Berry. No previous stage experience is required, and performers of all experience levels are encouraged to audition.

Synopsis

It is 1934, and the luxurious Orient Express is traveling from Istanbul to Western Europe when an American passenger is found dead inside his locked compartment, stabbed eight times.

Stranded by a snowdrift with a killer in their midst, the passengers must rely on the brilliant detective Hercule Poirot to uncover the truth before the murderer strikes again.

• Hercule Poirot: A famous Belgian detective who is brilliant, meticulous and fastidious

• Monsieur Bouc: A middle-aged Belgian who runs the train company

• Mary Debenham: A poised Englishwoman in her late 20s

• Hector MacQueen: An American in his 30s

• Michel the Conductor: A French conductor, approximately 40

• Princess Dragomiroff: A wealthy Russian princess in her 70s

• Greta Ohlsson: A nervous and easily frightened Swedish woman in her 30s

• Countess Andrenyi: A warm and beautiful Hungarian woman in her 20s

• Helen Hubbard: A flamboyant American woman in her 50s

• Colonel Arbuthnot: A distinguished Scottish man in his mid-30s

• Samuel Ratchett: Doubles with Colonel Arbuthnot

• Head Waiter: Doubles with Michel the Conductor

What to Expect

Auditions will consist of readings from selected portions of the script. Those auditioning for Hercule Poirot should also be prepared to recite one of his monologues.

Copies of the script will be available to view beginning two weeks before auditions at the Danville, Catlin, Oakwood, Westville and Hoopeston libraries.
